Queen Elizabeth:

Queen Elizabeth has been a clinic cat at Orchard Animal Clinic since the mid-nineties. She was originally taken in as a rescue by Conrad Strays, but inevitably won the hearts of everyone at OAC. Now she spends her time monitoring the hospital from her many cat beds. She enjoys lots of attention and treats in her spare time. She is a favorite among OAC's pint-size-kid-visitors as she loves to be pet and has the best disposition a cat could ask for.

Harry Houdini:

Harry Houdini has been at Orchard Animal Clinic since 2008. He originally was brought to OAC with a broken leg. Houdini won all the staff over with his charming personality and purrs. The medical staff fixed the break and set Houdini up as a permanent resident. He is the clinic-cat-supervisor. He has an opinion on just about everything! Houdini is often found sitting on exam room tables, ensuring all appointments run on time and are accompanied by a treat (for himself of course). He has a meow that can be heard for miles and won't take no for an answer. He is a favorite to watch wander about the lobby and "help" the receptionists with their computerwork.

Craig D. Maloney, DVM, dabvp

Dr. Craig Maloney completed a bachelors degree in molecular biology at the University of Chicago in 1992, received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from Colorado State University in 1996 and a MBA from California Lutheran University in 1998.  Prior to moving to Idaho he worked in two critical care practices in southern California and later served as the medical director of the 7 hospital Central Valley Veterinary Group in Salt Lake City. In 1999 Dr. Maloney moved with his family to Boise and purchased Mountain View Animal Hospital, which he continues to own and operate.  In 2008 Dr. Maloney purchased Orchard Animal Clinic, dividing his time between the two hospitals.
In 2006 Dr. Maloney was certified as a specialist by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, Canine and Feline Practice. Currently he is one of only 2 veterinarians in Idaho to have met this certification. He has practice interests in pain management and oncology, and is an active member of the Veterinary Cancer Society and the International Veterinary Association for Pain Management. Recently the IVAPM announced that it will begin to allow veterinarians to become certified in pain management, and Dr. Maloney is now pursing this training and specialty certification.
Both Mountain View Animal Hospital and Orchard Animal Clinic are certified by the American Animal Hospital Association, a stringent voluntary certification that has only been achieved by only seven hospitals in Idaho.  To reach AAHA accreditation a hospital must meet strict guidelines for equipment, training, staffing, medical protocols, record keeping, and in addition must undergo regular physical inspection.
In his free time he enjoys horses, braiding leather, gardening, outdoor sports, and spending time with his wife Melinda and his five children (Jesse, Jim, Tristan, Bryanna, Lilly). He is active in his church (Cloverdale Church of God) and performs volunteer work in Scouting and with the Family Advocacy Program.

Amber L. Upchurch, DVM

Dr. Amber Upchurch was born and raised in Boise.  She graduated from Boise High School where she was very active in the “BIG RED” marching band playing the tenor saxophone.  Since the age of 15 she has worked in veterinary hospitals in the Boise valley, starting at the bottom as a kennel assistant and working her way up to a veterinary assistant.
Once Dr. Upchurch graduated from BHS she headed north to the University of Idaho to get her degree in animal science/pre-veterinary science.  There she worked as a resident advisor on Global Village Hall and on Ag Hall, worked as a veterinary assistant at a local hospital in Moscow and continued to play the tenor saxophone in the Vandal Marching band “GO VANDALS”.
After graduation she headed southeast to the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.  She loved it there, the friends, the professors and the cultures made it a great experience.  She then headed to Oklahoma State University for her clinical year.
Once she graduated, she knew Boise was the only place she wanted to work.  Her family was here, her husband’s family was here and Boise is home.   After being away for so long it has been wonderful to get reacquainted with Boise.  Recently, Amber was marred to Andrew Craft; he is an IT consultant for a local company in Boise.
Amber and Andrew have 2 cats (Molly and Little Bit) and a dog (Trillian).  On her time off she enjoys water and snow skiing, camping, fishing and spending time with her family.  Dr. Amber Upchurchs' professional interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and reproductive medicine.
