Medical Isolation:
One of the most common worries for pet parents is bringing their healthy animal to a hospital that could be seeing very sick animals at the same time. "What guarantee do you have that my pet won’t get sick from being here?” Aside from a stringent disinfection and cleaning regiments between every patient we see, we also take advantage our Medical Isolation Ward.
If an animal has a disease that is contagious to other animals or to people (called zoonotic) they are kept in our Medical Isolation Ward. It is a separate, sterile room of our hospital. It has a completely separate ventilation system that is not circulated to any other area of the building. All the bowls, litter boxes, and other tools used for pet care are kept in this room and only leave when they are completely disinfected.
Our isolation kennels are heated and comfortable. Pets are provided with plenty of bedding and things to keep them comfortable. Balancing safety and comfort is of our upmost importance when keeping a pet in medical isolation. Nurses and Doctors will frequently visit the patient. They use disposable gowns and masks to limit risk of contamination, and they must step in and out of a bleach bath whenever entering or leaving the room.
